# How to use Dcipher Analytics from Claude and ChatGPT

Many analysts now start their day in an AI assistant. They draft in Claude, brainstorm in ChatGPT and ask quick questions in whichever tab is open. Until now, the research itself still meant switching to a separate tool.

Dcipher Analytics is now listed in the [Claude connector directory](https://claude.ai/directory/dcipher-analytics) and the [ChatGPT app directory](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6a96c88693588191aaaaccd13902a4f7). Once you connect it, you can run Dcipher research projects from the conversation: collect sources, run analyses, keep the results up to date and share them with your team. That makes it practical to run large-scale research from a chat window: scanning the horizon for emerging trends, monitoring competitors across markets and languages, or researching hundreds of companies, countries or cities in one go.

This post covers what the connector does, how to set it up and a few ways to use it.

## What is the Dcipher MCP server?

The connector is built on the Dcipher MCP server, a cloud-hosted [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io) server that gives AI assistants secure, real-time access to your Dcipher workspace. MCP is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to tools and data, which is why the same server works with Claude, ChatGPT, Google Gemini and other MCP clients.

The assistant handles the conversation. Dcipher does the research work: collecting news, social media and web sources, running research agents, analyzing thousands of documents and keeping every insight linked to its source.

## What you can do from Claude or ChatGPT

**Build and access knowledge bases.** Create and query knowledge bases from news, social media, AI research agents or your own PDF and Word documents. The assistant follows the progress and tells you when the data is ready.

**Run analyses.** Set up Dcipher projects and run content, trend, competitor, customer and scenario analyses. Explore the results in interactive dashboards and reports.

**Automate workflows.** Schedule your workflows to run weekly or monthly, so knowledge bases and project results stay up to date without manual work.

**Publish results.** Share interactive dashboards with colleagues or customers, so everyone works from the same up-to-date results.

## How to connect

### Claude

Add Dcipher Analytics from the [Claude connector directory](https://claude.ai/directory/dcipher-analytics) and sign in with your Dcipher account. You approve the connection on a consent screen.

In Claude Code, run:

```
claude mcp add --transport http dcipher https://mcp.dcipheranalytics.com/mcp
```

Then run `/mcp` in a session to sign in.

### ChatGPT

Add the Dcipher Analytics app from the [ChatGPT app directory](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6a96c88693588191aaaaccd13902a4f7) and sign in with your Dcipher account.

### Other MCP clients

Any client that supports the MCP Streamable HTTP transport and OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, such as Google Gemini or Microsoft Copilot Studio, can connect to `https://mcp.dcipheranalytics.com/mcp`. The [AI Gateway guides in our Help Center](https://help.dcipheranalytics.com/en/collections/19724886-ai-gateway) cover the details.

## Three ways to use it

**A trend radar before your next strategy meeting.** "Create a project on the future of sustainable packaging, build a news knowledge base from the last twelve months and run a trend analysis." The assistant creates the project and the knowledge base, runs the analysis and summarizes the strongest trends. You open the trend radar in Dcipher to explore it further.

**Competitor monitoring that keeps itself current.** "Set up competitor monitoring for our five main competitors and update it every week." The knowledge base and the results refresh on schedule, so each Monday the latest product launches, investments and organizational changes are already there. Ask the assistant what changed, and it answers with references to the original sources.

**Results your stakeholders can explore.** Instead of pasting charts into slides, share the interactive dashboard with colleagues or customers. They see the same results you do, and the dashboard stays up to date as the scheduled workflow runs.

## Security and permissions

The assistant gets exactly the access you already have in Dcipher, nothing more. Every tool call is checked against your organization and project roles, the same way the web app checks them. If an administrator changes your role, the change applies to the assistant immediately.

The connection uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. You sign in on Dcipher's own login page, and the assistant receives a short-lived access token. It never sees or stores your password.

## Get started

You need a Dcipher account to connect, and the connector works on the free trial too. If you do not have an account yet, [book a demo](https://www.dcipheranalytics.com/?action=book-a-demo) and we will show you the connector with your own use case.
